Charlotte the Great
An important part of Sarolta Nagy's method of creating images is the collection of impressions, using the frottage technique on canvas. This sampling is a gesture when the canvas comes into contact with the surface of the object. In such cases, she tries to transfer something from the memories they preserve or are connected to. The point is to build a found composition - or from given compositional elements - whose texture often creates a perfect surface of association. She tries to set in motion the two-phase permanence of heavy millstones, filled with centuries of work and then rest in museum conditions.
The materials used also have symbolic meaning; their history, their memories, the journey they have taken during the creative process, and the changes they undergo are important.
